Obituary of Cathy McShane
Gently passed away at Amica Swan Lake senior-living residence, on Friday November 22nd, 2024, Catherine McShane aged 91 years. Beloved wife of predeceased Dennis McShane. Loving mother of Patricia (Francois Gauthier) of Paris, France and Leslie (Andrew Chapman) of Markham. Cherished grandmother of Zak, Margaux, Antoine, Benjamin and Claire. Predeceased by parents Ruby (Quart) and Walter Moffat.
Catherine cherished her career as a Registered Nurse and trained at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal, followed by grad school at St. Michael’s in Toronto. She dedicated many years to the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Winchester District Memorial Hospital as a surgical nurse in the operating room. Following her professional career, she immersed herself in numerous volunteer activities including Guiding, the UCW, Meals on Wheels, and serving as a compassionate neighbour. She took great pleasure in gardening and delighted her family with exquisite homemade preserves, including jams, jellies, and pickles. She had a deep love for music and was an accomplished pianist and organist. She often played for her childhood Sunday School and family singalongs. Her commitment to helping others extended well beyond her nursing career, touching many lives in her community.
