That smile says so much…it was magnetic. We met back in the SGDHS days, and discovered our common northern Ontario roots. It was always fun to be around Bev. I’m confident that anyone who received nursing care or advice from her would have been buoyed by her personality. I always was!
I’m so sorry that dementia robbed her and Lyle and their family and friends of what should have been several years of joy and companionship.

Dear Mr. Behnke and family,
I'm so sorry to learn of the loss of your dear Beverley. I had never met Beverley but I did want to write to Lyle.
Mr. Behnke, I had the great luck to have you for French at SGDHS including in Grade 13. You so very kindly provided info and a recommendation for a scholarship for my first year in Translation at Laurentian, which I won and which enabled me to have a much easier first year. I ended up living in France for 10+ years (Switzerland before that), and have been a prof at U of O (Business School) for 20 years now. One of the reasons (aside from family) for moving back to Ottawa / to U of O was being able to continuer à se jaser en français ! So I am writing to thank you for those seeds you planted and nurtured those many years ago. Sincères condoléances. Et encore un grand merci. Dana Hyde

Linda and Bruce are saddened by the news of Bev's passing and send our heartfelt condolences to Lyle and their daughters Shannon and Marla. I met Bev at Marymount School of Nursing where we lived in Residence for the next 3 years. During those 3 years we became friends, shared family stories, boy stuff, made forever friendships, made memories, laughed , cried, had fun, learned nursing skills and a million other things. Best of all we came out as a family and on graduation became "the class of 1967". Our class had the best of the best classmates and on graduation, we became nurses and had life long friends. Even though some went to different cities, our bond never broke, we all came together every 5 years in Sudbury to celebrate every 5 yrs of nursing then 10 yrs and so on. Every reunion we just picked up where we left off as we had never left, reuniting with family members, as loving and caring to each other as ever, so eager to see everyone, catch up. It was wonderful. The husbands were always included and got to know everyone and this has lasted throughout the years. The big reunions have been stopped but our bond will be forever. I can still hear Bev's laughter and see her sitting cross legged on the end of her bed in residence as us girls gathered to chat, the midnight meetings in the common room after afternoon shift to have some toast or make popcorn, the giggles, the tears, the comradarie.
Bev, you were our family, our dear friend and will always be a part of the " Class of "67 " clan. R.I.P.Beverly.

Deepest Sympathy to the whole family in the loss of a wife, mother, grandmother.
I worked with Bev at BGH ICU and have many memories. Also many happy times at the Brown's Bay ICU picnic when our kids were young, and the gatherings at the ICU get togethers.
