Obituary of Verna Warren

Verna Warren passed away peacefully on Monday December 23, 2024  at the Brockville General Hospital at the age of 89 years. Verna is predeceased by her father George Albert DeBruge and her mother Catherine Cecilia DeBruge.  Verna is the mother of 8 children, Brian of London, On, Gary of Maitland, Paul, Wayne, Mark, Catherine Eide, Valerie Bigalow all of the Brockville area and Kenny of Athens, On. Verna is also survived by a sister, Beatrice Gray as well as several nieces and nephews. Verna is the proud Grandmother of  George, Gesille, Michelle, Michael, Sara, Whitney, Cody, Shay, Kiersten, Taylor, Logan, Jason, Rebecca, Derrick, Luc, Dustin, Zachary, Casey, Alex and Brooke as well as greatgrandchildren Brooklyn, Sandler, Kadence, Ivy, Ronan, Everett, Arthur, Jace, Emma, Dax, Sawyer, Olive and Asher. 

Verna lived in the Brockville area her entire life. She retired from Brock Telecom after 33 years of service. Nobody had a greener thumb when it came to Vegetable and Flower gardens. She loved everything about hockey from coaching to watching her children and grandchildren play. Her favorite team was always the team that her children and grandchildren were playing on! Her second favorite team was the Toronto Maple Leafs. Her other interests included hunting, travelling, crocheting, knitting and decorating her home for every holiday. Christmas lights from her apartment could be seen from space.

Family and friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E on Thursday January 2, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.  In memory of Verna, donations to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
