Obituary of Audrey Elizabeth Dorothea Casselman , B.A.

Passed away peacefully, in her 99th year, on Friday April 13, 2007, at home in St. Catharines, Ontario, with her daughter and her family by her side. Much loved wife of the late Hubert William Ezra Casselman (marriesd June 12, 1934). She is survived and mourned by her children, Alyce (Alan) Sutherland, St.Catharines; John (Lois) Casselman, Bath; her grandchildren, Louise (nee Sutherland) (David) Stanley, Tottenham; Mary (nee Sutherland), (Bob) Wright, Grand Bend; Hugh (Felicia) Sutherland, Thorold; Charles (Lesley) Casselman, Cranbrook, BC and Stephen (Melissa) Casselman, Peterborough; her great grandchildren Robert and Kathleen Stanley, Tottenham; Haley and James Casselman, Cranbrook; Connor and Aidan Sutherland, Thorold; her sister Lucille Munroe, Chesterville. Predeceased by her parents Alice Maude (nee Casselman) and Malcolm Asa Froats of Froatburn, brothers Kenneth and Harold Froats. Audrey's life shone like a beacon as an inspiration to family and friends alike. She was strong, yet sweet, gentle, and loving. Her warmth, wit, intelligence, and kind heart were the essence of her personality. Her greatest energies over the years were always focused on her family. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to the service of others through membership in the Eastern Star, the Women's Institude, and various other church and community organizations.She was a charter founding member of the Casselman Ancestral Society and a direct United Empire Loyalist descendent. Family and friends are invited to call at the family home, 73 Ormond Street, Brockville, for visitation on Thursday , April 19, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Eastern Star will hold a service at 6:45 p.m. The funeral service, a celebration of Audrey's life, will be held at Wall Street United Church, Brockville, on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 2 p.m, with interment in Oakland Cemetery. A reception will follow at the family home. Memorial dontions may be made to Wall Street United Church or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
