CHARLTON, Barbara April 9, 1921 ~ May 8, 2014 Passed away peacefully, in her 94th year, at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville, ON, after a long and varied life. Dear mother of Rodney (Bonnie), Elizabethtown; Madeleine (Nick Cheesman), Pickering. Much loved grandmother of Erica (Dan McNeil) Athens, ON, Andrea, Vancouver, BC, Jennifer, Calgary, AB and Timothy (Pamela) Bradford, ON. Great-grandmother to Jillian, Avielle, Alec, Jackson and Juliette. Barbara was born in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, UK, emigrated to Canada in 1954, lived in Scarborough for many years, eventually moving first to Foxboro in 1974, then to Stirling in 1981. She worked for many years for the provincial government, lastly at the (then) Sir James Whitney School in Belleville. Barbara was a 25 year cancer survivor. With advancing years and limited mobility, Barbara moved to St. Lawrence Lodge in 2011, where she received excellent care from the outstanding staff. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at the family’s home at a later date. Remembrances for Barbara can be made through your local Animal Shelter or Humane Society.
