Obituary of Nora Johnston

Nora died peacefully at Providence Healthcare in Toronto on Friday April 7, 2006 in her 96th year. Born January 23, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Agnes Cleo Halladay and Wesley Martin Snyder of Spencerville and the wife of the late Ernest Meredith Johnston of Brockville. She is survived by children Linda (Herman Engel), Michael (Cheryl), David (Kim McKenna) and Patricia (Dan Markovich) and grandchildren Marijke, Marten, Kristiaan, Kieran, Andrew, Robin, Christopher, Craig, Adria, Alex and Petar. Also survived by a daughter in law Cheryl A. Johnston, her brother Gerald M. Snyder (Lois) and nephews and niece William, Kathleen and David. Nora devoted her life to a ministry of music, serving over 69 years as teacher, church organist and music director. She retired from St. John's United Church in Brockville after over 40 years of service. A private family funeral and burial will take place in Brockville. The family will receive friends at a reception and musical tribute honouring Nora on Tuesday April 11, 2006 at 2 p.m. at St. John's United Church, Brockville.
