Just before midnight on Friday February 14th, 2020 Melvin took his last earthly breath and joined the late Myrna (Antler) Pilatzke for a Valentine’s Dance. Mel lived the majority of his 86 years in Pembroke, moving to Brockville in 2018 and Prescott last year. Loving father of Gail Shantz (the late Brent) of Eckville, AB, Shelly Pilatzke (John Borelli) of Brockville and Lori Pilatzke (Jen Macklin) of Orillia. Cherished grandfather of Miranda Beam (Brad) and Brady Sullivan; and great grandfather of Ashton and Emerson Beam. Son of the late William and Myrtle (Siegel) Pilatzke. Dear brother of Glen (Liz) and the late Verena Holtz (Carson), Erwin, Ken (Ella) Stanley, Percy Pilatzke (Sheila) and Louella Ashick (Wes); and brother in law of Jean Pilatzke, Melba Hawkins and Dwyla Doran. Also missed by many nieces and nephews. Family and friends were received at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East Brockville on Saturday February 22nd, 2020 for visitation followed by the Celebration of Melvin’s Life held in the Chapel. Due to COVID restrictions a Private Graveside Service will be held at Zion Saint Timothy Lutheran Cemetery, 652 Boundary Road East, Pembroke, Ontario.
