With sadness, the family of Shirley Rummery announce her passing January 31, 2021 at home. Born near Grimsby, On she came to Brockville with her parents as a toddler. She attended elementary and high school in Brockville and on graduation joined the Bell Telephone Company. For many years, she served as the sole night operator when the woman at the switchboard lived in town and could give informed answers and assistance. She was a devoted caregiver to both her mother and father. Passionate about animals and birds, she maintained a “buffet” in her garden to feed them all. Left to mourn her passing are her brother Dr. Terrance Rummery and his wife Dianne, her niece Tara Ann Jacquet and her husband Dr. Marc Jacquet, their children Liam and Chloe and her nephew, Marcus Rummery. As per Shirley's wishes, there will be a private graveside service. In memory of Shirley, donations to the Salvation Army would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
