Obituary of Angelena Mallory

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Angelena Mallory, on February 20, 2021, at the Kingston General Hospital., Kingston Ontario. Angelena was born in Sydney, NS, July 19, 1947. She was the daughter of the late Perino Smith and Ida Bell Petrie. She is survived by her sisters Patricia Fry (Charlie); Viola Barttlett (Bennie); and brother, Gino Spinazzola (Karen); Stepson Travis Mallory (Mary); and stepdaughter Terri Mallory (Tom). She was predeceased by her husband Fred Mallory; foster son Robert; sisters; Theresa Campbell (Jim); Diane Cuff (Jim). Angelena enjoyed getting back to Nova Scotia for visits. Especially for family weddings and anniversaries in Cape Breton. She adored her eight nieces; five nephews; great nieces; nephews, cousins; aunts; and uncles. Angelena worked for years as head cook sailing the Great Lakes, before moving on to home care. She was employed for the last 20 years as a support worker for the Brockville and Area Community Living Association. Angelena was passionate about her work, loved her co-workers, and the very special residents she felt so blessed to work with. They were family to her. Angelena was recognized and appreciated for her compassion, commitment, tenacity, and integrity. Her relentless commitment to family, friends, and the residents she supported where she worked was widely respected. She was authentic and true to her word. Everyone who knew her admired the humorous and fun-loving aspect of her personality, that easily won their hearts. Angelena’s faith and spirituality was steadfast and unshakable throughout her life, during times of sickness and in health. Recently she said, “my body is beginning to fail, but not my spirit.” Her passing leaves a huge void in our lives. We will miss her beyond what words could possibly express; But our grieving and pain will be eased by our gratitude to have had her beautiful soul and positive energy entrenched in our hearts forever. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and all the staff at the Kingston General Hospital for their dedication and support during Angelena’s time there as a patient. A funeral will be held at Grenadier Island, Ontario, to be announced at a later date. Donations can be made to Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation Palliative Care. Arrangements entrusted to the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville. Messages of condolence may be made online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com.
