I remember Jerry from his Crispin Leather days in Burlington, Vermont. I worked for a newspaper then called the Vermont Eclipse, and helped Jerry with the advertising for the store.
Interesting that today is Saint Crispin's Day, the patron saint of shoemakers, which inspired me to look Jerry up on Facebook, where I learned of his demise....Jerry was a very nice guy and will be missed for sure…RIP my friend!

I first met Jerry at Fredericton, NB when we both started at UNB, in 1974 and shared an apartment. He is an unforgettable character. Sadly, we lost touch several years ago. My thoughts are with his family and those close to him.

I met Jerry when I was "fresh off the boat" as a new immigrant to Canada in Vancouver in the early 90's. He was so kind to me and such fun to work with. He even introduced me to my wife (we celebrated our 30 year anniversary this past May) and he had, as always, a great story about her. "Didn't we used to be married?" Our condolences to Jerry's family. He will be missed!

I had the distinct pleasure of knowing Jerry over many years here in Ottawa. Jerry made everyone feel that the community of technology was more important than the tech itself. He had a genuine, authentic warmth that made everyone smile. To be a part of his circle was a privilege. We will all miss Jerry and wish his entire family the best during this difficult time.

My name is Jody, I’m a bartender at the Heart & Crown on Preston during the weekdays mostly. I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with Jerry and his friends when they would stop in on Fridays. I wanted to extend my condolences for the family and friends of Jerry from everyone at the Heart & Crown.
I always say how lucky our staff are to have such amiable, gracious and kind regulars that have been coming back over the years. The positive interactions go such a long way and add such a light to our days. Jerry didn’t fall short in these areas. Always so appreciative for the hospitality, always had time for an uplifting conversation and always wearing a big, contagious smile. He was almost always the first in the crew to arrive at the pub in the afternoon and start the party! We always made sure to have the Patron and Kilkenny ordered for our friend Jerry! Great guy with great taste. I’m sure there will be many toasts over the next few months and years in his honour, and I hope some will be shared at his stomping grounds at the Heart & Crown.
He seemed to have such a big network of acquaintances and loved ones. I felt inclined to share the positive impression he had left on myself and the staff. I hope you all have beautiful memories to comfort and carry you through this difficult time.
Take care and hope to see you soon,
Jody

Was saddened to learn of Jerry's passing. He provided a solid foundation for INSA's start. Jerry will be missed by high tech community in Ottawa. He always had a story to tell and an idea to share. May he rest in peace!
